You said I’m beautiful
I don’t believe you
Your words make me want to shave my head and cut my face… Prove I am ugly
I want you to stop lying
–
You say I’m pretty but I don’t see it
The “sparkling eyes” are uneven and if you look close you can see my crazy soul in them
The “pretty hair” is wild and unkept and if you touched it you would realize how dry and lifeless it is
The “sweet smile” covers an overbite and when I really smile you can see my tongue through my teeth
Double chin, whiskers, over sized pores, and an ugly red dot… Is all I see
An ugly child with a bad hair cut
A fat teenager crying about being told she is disgusting
A young woman being passed over for the pretty ones
A middle aged witch with no hope of being loved
–
Why are people so cruel?
Why do words spoken 30 years ago, still echo the loudest?
Why can’t I see what you see?
–
Sparkling eyes dancing with mischief… Pretty hair flowing freely, that others wish they had… Sweet smile that welcomes you in… Sexy… Beautiful… Pretty…
–
One day I wish I could see through your eyes
One day I might believe you
One day when I say thank you I will mean it
